Learn how to create a conscious closet and reduce textile waste! Join I Love A Clean San Diego for the free Unraveling Fast Fashion: Stitching Together a Sustainable Future Workshop at the Dan McKinney YMCA on Wednesday, June 17 at 6 p.m.

This event features a panel Q&A with local experts in sustainable fashion and textile recycling, including representatives from Bridge Thrift, ReDenim, and more! We’ll cover topics such as:

  • Textile recycling and upcycling ideas
  • Low waste laundry habits
  • Secondhand shopping tips
  • The environmental impacts of fast fashion and how to avoid purchasing

Attendees can also participate in various textile upcycling activities: T-shirt bags, reusable dryer sheets, and natural textile dyeing facilitated by Sound as Color – get creative and upcycle food scraps into art on natural fiber clothing! Please bring a textile to dye – see FAQ section for details.

  • Proper recycling, organics recycling, and waste sorting
  • Pollution facts
  • Zero waste living dos and don’ts
  • Environmental issues in San Diego and beyond

From Kitchen to Closet: DIY Your Way to a Low-Waste Lifestyle Workshop

Join I Love A Clean San Diego for our free From Kitchen to Closet: DIY Your Way to a Low-Waste Lifestyle Workshop on Saturday, March 14 at 10 AM at Origins Grocer – South Park to learn accessible ways to live a more sustainable lifestyle! During this workshop, we’ll cover:

· Zero waste practices to adopt in the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room and home common areas

· Sustainable product swaps

· Recommendations for where to purchase low waste versions of everyday products locally

Attendees will have the opportunity to make and take home DIY zero waste cleaning and personal care products, and we will have our free Swap and Shop booth open for browsing through secondhand clothes, books, toys and other trinkets.

All attendees will be entered into a drawing to win prizes including a zero waste gift basket filled with sustainable products for the home, and $20 Visa e-gift cards. 3 winners will be chosen at the end of the workshop!

In honor of Earth Month, join the new Happy Earth Hour event where networking and sustainability meet!

Join I Love A Clean San Diego at Chase Bank in North Park on April 14, 5:30-7:30 PM to learn from a panel of regional sustainability experts about reducing waste and caring for the environment. We’ll start the night off with networking, then transition into a Q&A session with the panel. Save some time to check out booths from local low waste vendors, and leave with new connections in the San Diego sustainability world.
