Organic Waste Recycling Workshop

The City of San Diego’s new curbside organic waste recycling program is here! Join us on Saturday, June 3 at 10 a.m. for our free  workshop at the Allied Gardens Recreation Center to learn about mandatory organic waste recycling for City of San Diego residents and how to do it at home.

The one-hour workshop will include:

  • How to properly dispose of food waste
  • What types of waste can go in the organic waste recycling bin
  • Why it’s so important to divert organic waste from our landfills

Participants will receive FREE compost from the Miramar Greenery and informational resources in a follow up email!

Simple Swaps – Sustainable Alternatives to Single-Use Plastic Workshop

Did you know that we produce almost 400 million tons of plastic each year across the globe?

 

Join us at Alga Norte Community Park (6565 Alicante Rd.) on Saturday, April 29 at 10 a.m. for our free Simple Swaps – Sustainable Alternatives to Single-Use Plastic workshop!

 

During the one-hour workshop, you’ll learn:

  • How to properly recycle or dispose of plastic waste
  • What happens to plastic after we throw it in the trash
  • About the City of Carlsbad’s upcoming local ordinances banning single-use plastics
  • Zero waste product swaps for single-use items inside and outside the home
  • How to make a reusable shopping bag out of an upcycled shirt
  • Why it’s so important for our health and the health of the environment to reduce plastic usage

Chula Vista Green Business Solution Workshop

Join us for an informational and interactive session focusing on zero waste business practices. On Wednesday, February 21, 2018, I Love A Clean San Diego will be partnering with the City of Chula Vista to host a Green Business Solutions Workshop at the Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce. We will identify the importance of a zero waste lifestyle, how to implement these practices in your business, and the environmental and economic benefits of going green. Whether you work in an office, a restaurant, or in retail, we will have valuable information for all business models. This will be a great opportunity for you to network and share ideas for creating a more eco-conscious workspace.

Join ILACSD for our Zero Waste 101: Organics workshop at Ocean Knoll Farm. Learn how to keep organics out of the landfill by shopping smart, storing food properly, and composting your scraps. We’ll also cover water conservation tools, such as ocean friendly gardens and laundry-to-landscape systems.

Activities include:

  • An interactive demo to learn how to build a vermicompost bin
  • A kids’ craft corner
  • A Swap ‘n Shop. Participate by bringing any gently used items to exchange for another’s goods.
  • An opportunity drawing for great prizes.
