Conscious Closets: Clothing Swap & Sewing Workshop

Come join I Love A Clean San Diego for our free Conscious Closets: Clothing Swap and Sewing Workshop at the Magdalena Ecke YMCA in Encinitas on Thursday, November 12 at 6 p.m.

Browse our inventory of secondhand clothing, shoes and accessories, and leave with a pre-loved but new to you outfit! Donations are welcome – limited to 1 grocery bag per person, and we kindly request items be high quality (free of rips, stains, and odors).

Local textile arts education group Clicbitz will lead a sewing workshop – learn basic sewing skills so you can mend your clothing and extend the life of your items! Bring something damaged from your closet to repair, or practice on spare textiles provided at the event.

Wrecked to Ready: Wetsuit Repair and Upcycling Workshop

Have an old ripped wetsuit laying around that you’re not sure what to do with? Come join I Love A Clean San Diego for our free Wrecked to Ready: Wetsuit Repair and Upcycling Workshop at the Encinitas Community & Senior Center on Wednesday, June 24 at 6 p.m.

Note: Wetsuits are NOT required for this event! We will have some available on site for the upcycling activity if you do not have one at home to bring.

Bring in a damaged wetsuit and our partners at Clicbitz will be teaching demos on how to repair minor rips and tears! Learn sewing and patching skills to help extend the life of your suit, and contribute to the circular economy.

They’ll also demo how to upcycle a wetsuit that’s ripped beyond repair and turn it into a can coozie, so bring in suits in any condition – we’ll help you save them from the landfill!
