Watershed Warriors: San Marcos Community Cleanup

Join ILACSD, the County of San Diego, and the Olivenhain Municipal Water District for a litter cleanup in San Marcos on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am! Volunteers will meet at the Elfin Forest Recreation Center located at 8833 Harmony Grove Road, Escondido, CA 92029. We will collect trash and recycling to divert waste from traveling through the Carlsbad watershed to our coast.

We will have cleanup supplies and water, as well as community service hours and Letters of Appreciation. This is a great opportunity for students and families to learn ways to protect our local environment!

We encourage volunteers to bring your own reusable items such as water bottles, work gloves, and buckets to promote zero waste practices and help us in our mission to have a zero waste, litter free and environmentally engaged San Diego region!

All volunteers are required to fill out a waiver form to participate and anyone under the age of 18 needs a waiver signed by their parent or guardian.

Oil Filter Exchange Event

The County of San Diego in collaboration with O’Reilly Auto Parts will be holding a free Oil FIlter Exchange Event on Saturday, September 29, 2018, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the O’Reilly Auto Parts locations listed below.

Bring in a used oil filter and receive a new one free of charge! Free offer valid only during the event date and time at the following locations.

Fallbrook Tire Collection

CalRecycle, the County of San Diego Department of Public Works, and the Fallbrook Union High School District are hosting a FREE Tire Collection Event. Bring passenger vehicle tires to properly dispose of at this collection day! This free service for community residents will be offered from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 15, 2018, at the Fallbrook High School Winter Haven Parking Lot located at 1050 Winter Haven Road, Fallbrook, CA 92028.

Tire Requirements:

  • Passenger vehicle tires only.
  • No tires from businesses.
  • Tires must be reasonably clean of dirt.
  • Only 9 tires per vehicle.
  • A limited number of tires with rims will be accepted.
  • Call 1-877-713-2784 to request pre-approval for tires with rims and loads of more than 9 tires.

OURganics: Our Relationship with Food

Join I Love A Clean San Diego and the City of Chula Vista for an organics workshop on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Memorial Park, adjacent to the Parkway Community Center located at 373 Park Way, Chula Vista, CA 91910. The event is completely FREE and open to the public.

Come by and learn how to keep organics out of the landfill by shopping smart, storing food properly, and composting your scraps. We will also cover water conservation topics, such as ocean-friendly gardens and laundry-to-landscape systems. There will also be hands-on activities and an eco-kids craft corner!

Green Business Solutions Workshop

Join I Love A Clean San Diego and the City of Encinitas on Wednesday, November 7th, 2018 from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm for our Green Business Solutions Workshop, an interactive evening focused on zero waste business practices! The workshop will be held at the Encinitas Library Community Room located at 540 Cornish Drive, Encinitas, CA 92024.

We will identify the importance of a zero waste lifestyle, how to implement these practices into your business, and the environmental and economic benefits of going green. Join ILACSD, the Fallbrook Community Center, and the County of San Diego for a litter cleanup on Saturday, September 29 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Volunteers will meet at the Fallbrook Community Center located at 341 Heald Lane, Fallbrook, CA 92028. We will be picking up trash around the park and the surrounding neighborhood to divert litter from entering the San Luis Rey watershed!

At the cleanup, we will be showcasing educational exhibits that discuss the impact of trash on our environment! We will also be bringing cleanup supplies. We encourage volunteers to bring their own reusable items such as water bottles, work gloves, and buckets to promote zero waste practices and help us in our mission to have a zero waste, litter free and environmentally engaged San Diego region! We also provide community service hours and Letters of Appreciation for volunteers.

Volunteers will meet at the corner of Old River Road and Little Gopher Canyon Road, Bonsall, CA 92084. We will collect trash along the San Luis Rey Riverbed to divert waste from the watershed and beautify the community for summer hikers! This is a great opportunity for students and families to learn ways to protect our local environment!

We will have cleanup supplies, snacks, and water. We also provide community service hours and Letters of Appreciation for volunteers.
