Countywide Cleanups

Looking to join the community and participate in a large scale cleanup event? In April and September, volunteers gather at more than 100 cleanup sites countywide to remove trash and beautify the local community. These cleanups often involve additional service projects based on local needs such as graffiti removal and planting projects. I Love A Clean San Diego has been coordinating Coastal Cleanup Day in San Diego County for over 30 years and started its signature event, the Creek to Bay Cleanup, in 2003. Together, these two events alone provide nearly 50,000 hours of volunteer service to enhance San Diego’s natural environment.

Community Cleanups

Looking to connect with other volunteers in the area who are passionate about cleanups? I Love A Clean San Diego’s monthly cleanup events take place both on the coast as well as in local creek beds, canyons, open space parks and everywhere in between. In one year alone, I Love A Clean San Diego conducted 245 cleanups across San Diego County and successfully removed nearly 500,000 pounds of debris. Volunteers see first-hand how trash makes its way from inland communities all the way to the coast through San Diego County’s vast watershed system. Volunteers of all ages are invited to participate in these cleanups.

Adopt-A-Beach or Canyon

Looking for a consistent self led volunteer opportunity? It is up to us all to keep our beaches clean. Beyond cleanups conducted by the city, our community’s spaces are in need of environmental stewards to ensure that they can always be safe and beautiful for us to enjoy. By participating in our Adopt-A-Beach or Adopt-A-Canyon program, organizations can maintain a chosen site. Volunteers can design their cleanup events however and whenever they desire with the support of our community engagement team. By completing only 3 cleanups in the span of 1 year, the responsible group will qualify to have their name displayed on an adoption sign at eligible locations, communicating to San Diegans that conservation efforts is our shared priority.

Grant funding does not cover the costs for this program, so we welcome donations of all sizes to keep it thriving in San Diego County – CLICK HERE to make a donation – Thank you!
