Watershed Warriors: Lakeside Community Cleanup

Join ILACSD as we team up with the County of San Diego for a litter cleanup in Lakeside!  Volunteers will meet at the end of Vine Street to pick up trash around the San Vicente Creek to divert waste from the San Diego watershed and preserve the area’s natural beauty!

ILACSD will bring all the cleanup supplies and explain the impact of this cleanup on our watershed. We also provide community service hours and Letters of Appreciation for volunteers. This is a great opportunity for students and families to learn ways to protect our local environment!

We encourage volunteers to bring their own reusable items such as water bottles, work gloves, and buckets. This helps us work toward our vision of a zero waste, litter-free and environmentally engaged San Diego region!

All volunteers are required to fill out a waiver form to participate. Anyone under the age of 18 needs a waiver signed by their parent or guardian.

Seaside Sustainability: Ditching Disposables

Join ILACSD as we team up with the City of Carlsbad once again to bring you Seaside Sustainability: Ditching Disposables on Wednesday, November 28th from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the State Street Farmers Market in Carlsbad Village located on State Street between Carlsbad Village Drive and Grand Avenue! We are excited to help spread the word about sustainable practices and make it easier for residents to implement these actions in their everyday lives.

 

ILACSD will be talking with community members about minimizing their consumption of single-use plastics, reducing food waste, and building sustainable habits. Stop by our booth to pick up a FREE set of bamboo utensils or a stainless steel straw! Put your knowledge into action by utilizing your new reusable utensils while enjoying a bite to eat from one of the Farmers Market vendors!

 Please note, this is not a volunteer opportunity.

Join ILACSD and the County of San Diego for an Alpine litter cleanup on Saturday, November 3rd from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Volunteers will meet at the Alpine Community Center located at 1830 Alpine Blvd, Alpine, CA 91901. We will pick up trash from around the Alpine Community Center to divert waste from the San Diego watershed and preserve the area’s natural beauty!

ILACSD will bring all the cleanup supplies and explain the impact of this cleanup on our watershed. We also provide community service hours and Letters of Appreciation for volunteers. This is a great opportunity for students and families to learn ways to protect our local environment!

Save Your Scraps Workshop

Chula Vista Organics Workshop

Join ILACSD as we team up with the City of Chula Vista to bring you a Zero Waste Workshop focused on organics! On Saturday, November 3, 2018, we will be hosting the Save Your Scraps Workshop from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Otay Recreation Center located at 3554 Main Street, Chula Vista, CA 91911. The workshop is complimentary and open to the public!

Come by and learn how to keep organics out of the landfill by shopping smart, storing food properly, and composting your scraps. We will also cover water conservation topics, such as ocean-friendly gardens and laundry-to-landscape systems. Join us for this fun, informative workshop and participate in one of the hands-on activities including a ‘make and take’ project and an eco-friendly kids’ craft.

In addition, attendees can bring in gently used items you were planning to donate and participate in the Swap ‘n’ Shop! Participants can exchange or donate those items giving them a second life and keeping them out of the landfill. Some example items that have been brought to past workshops include clothes, nail polish, stereos, pet supplies, books, CD’s, picture frames, kitchenware, Halloween costumes, etc.

Volunteers will meet at the Ramona Branch Library located at 1275 Main Street, Ramona, CA 92065. We will be picking up trash around the park and the surrounding neighborhood to divert litter from entering the San Dieguito watershed!

At the cleanup, we will be showcasing educational exhibits that discuss the impact of trash on our environment! We will also be bringing cleanup supplies. We encourage volunteers to bring their own reusable items such as water bottles, work gloves, and buckets to promote zero waste practices and help us in our mission to have a zero waste, litter free and environmentally engaged San Diego region! We also provide community service hours and Letters of Appreciation for volunteers.

At three locations inside The Forum Carlsbad, ILACSD will be talking with community members about minimizing their consumption of single-use plastics, reducing food waste, and building sustainable habits. Stop by one of our three booths to pick up a FREE set of bamboo utensils or a stainless steel straw! If you get hungry while shopping, enjoy a bite to eat at one of the numerous cafes or restaurant throughout the Forum, and put your knowledge into action by utilizing your new reusable utensils!

Watershed Warriors: San Marcos Community Cleanup

Join ILACSD, the County of San Diego, and the Olivenhain Municipal Water District for a litter cleanup in San Marcos on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am! Volunteers will meet at the Elfin Forest Recreation Center located at 8833 Harmony Grove Road, Escondido, CA 92029. We will collect trash and recycling to divert waste from traveling through the Carlsbad watershed to our coast.

We will have cleanup supplies and water, as well as community service hours and Letters of Appreciation. This is a great opportunity for students and families to learn ways to protect our local environment!

OURganics: Our Relationship with Food

Join I Love A Clean San Diego and the City of Chula Vista for an organics workshop on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Memorial Park, adjacent to the Parkway Community Center located at 373 Park Way, Chula Vista, CA 91910. The event is completely FREE and open to the public.

Green Business Solutions Workshop

Join I Love A Clean San Diego and the City of Encinitas on Wednesday, November 7th, 2018 from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm for our Green Business Solutions Workshop, an interactive evening focused on zero waste business practices! The workshop will be held at the Encinitas Library Community Room located at 540 Cornish Drive, Encinitas, CA 92024.

We will identify the importance of a zero waste lifestyle, how to implement these practices into your business, and the environmental and economic benefits of going green.
