TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time, Seasonal, Non-Exempt
SCHEDULE: 20 – 29 hours per week. Expected to work 2-4 Saturday events per month
EMPLOYMENT TERM: Hire Date through November 29, 2024

REPORTS TO: Community Education Manager
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- $20.00 – $22.00/hour (depending on experience)
- Mileage reimbursement (current CA reimbursement rate)
- Paid time off (PTO)
- Hybrid in-office/remote work schedule dependent on position
POSITION OVERVIEW: The part-time, seasonal Education Coordinator will support the Community Education Department in coordinating and delivering environmental education programs throughout San Diego County. Responsibilities include managing outreach booths, delivering educational content to diverse audiences, and supporting program documentation and reporting. This role requires strong organizational skills, flexibility, and a commitment to inspiring environmental stewardship in the community.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:
• Coordinate outreach booths, including research to identify outreach events, staffing, registration, supplies and preparation
• Deliver programs (ex: booths, presentations, events, cleanups) to youth and adult audiences on an average of one (1) day a week.
• Support part-time Outreach Assistants, including training, necessary meetings, and event correspondence
• Learn curriculum through independent study and observing education programs as schedule allows
• Distribute and collect program evaluations, surveys and handouts to program audiences
• Ensure outreach and education programs are within contract compliance and perform quality control
• Conduct contract and grant report writing for respective contracts and grants within given deadlines
• Maintain and oversee organization’s outreach supplies, including partner agency’s outreach materials inventory
• Support the development or updating of educational booth materials and displays as needed
• Support the Community Education Manager to complete department-specific contracts and organization where necessary
• Work with Marketing department to promote relevant programs and events including collateral as needed
• Professional and accurate representation of I Love A Clean San Diego
• Other duties as assigned

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
- Manage and oversee execution of all booth and other assigned education programs by established deadlines
- Maintain clear notes and documentation across the programs and reports
- Effective storytelling in communications (ex: reports, program development proposals) that share the benefit of our programs, impact on community members, and connect to our mission
- Increase attendee engagement that inspires action through innovative education materials and programs
- Foster and maintain a positive experience for all I Love A Clean San Diego program participants
- Build positive and mutually beneficial partnerships with event planners, organizations and other partners
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Flexible daily start and end times, dependent on scheduled programs and daily tasks
- Ability to work weekends and/or evenings
- Proficient with Microsoft 360 Suite (Office, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint), Slack, Zoom
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination
- Must be able to lift 30-50 LBS
- Requires sitting, standing, and walking long distances at programs
- Reliable transportation; ability and willingness to travel across San Diego County for in-person programs
- Located in San Diego County
- Ability to pass a background check prior to employment
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

• Flexibility; ability to assess and adjust priorities with changing requirements
• Commitment to working in a team environment and ability to work independently
• Ability to proactively engage multiple, simultaneous projects and requirements/goals
• Effective communication skills for diverse audiences, including strong writing and public speaking skills
• Knowledge and/or willingness to learn about local environmental issues such as stormwater pollution prevention, waste diversion, and zero waste lifestyles
