After a short orientation and safety talk you will be sent off to remove cigarette litter around the area! Staff will send off cigarette litter to our partners at TerraCycle after the event; you can request community service verification in your Community Hub dashboard. \nWAIVERS: This event requires a signed release-of-liability waiver for all volunteers\, and anyone under 18 needs a waiver signed by a guardian. SUMMARY:41st Annual Coastal Cleanup Day
DESCRIPTION:The Ocean Conservancy and the California Coastal Commission partner with volunteer organizations\, such as I Love A Clean San Diego to create the largest\, international cleanup day. I Love A Clean San Diego leads the efforts for this day in San Diego County for the 41st year in a row. Data collected from this event feeds into the world’s largest database on marine debris. Join our efforts this year to be a part of this global event! \nThis year\, our countywide Coastal Cleanup Day will have around 100 + locations for volunteers to choose from\, inland and coastal. Each site is hosted by a site captain (a specially trained volunteer) who will manage volunteers on site\, properly dispose of the trash\, and report back totals. \nClick the registration link below to see our main page for more details and the map of locations to choose from.

This one hour and 45 minute (1.75 hrs) bus tour will give you a peek behind-the-scenes to find out what really happens when you dispose of waste and clear up the myth of throwing something “away”. \nJoin I Love A Clean San Diego to better understand how your daily actions impact the Miramar Landfill and the City of San Diego’s goal to reach zero waste by 2040. You will not only learn about the importance of zero waste\, but also be given the tools on how to get there. Other tour highlights include the Allan Company Recycling Facility\, the Greenery and the Household Hazardous Waste Transfer Facility. \nThis event is available for City of San Diego residents ONLY! As a safety precaution\, long pants and close-toed shoes are REQUIRED. A signed waiver will be required at the start of the tour. This tour is not recommended for children under 12 years of age. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. \nAt the end of the tour one person will be selected at random to receive a kitchen pail and reusable utensil kit! Additionally\, after the tour concludes\, of the participants who attended\, a different person will be selected at random to receive a $20 e-gift card! The email address you provide when registering will be used to contact you if you win the gift card. \nNote: If there is rain the day of the event or severe weather the days leading up to the event\, the tour will be rescheduled or canceled. DESCRIPTION:This two (2) hour bus tour will give you a peek behind-the-scenes to find out what really happens when you dispose of waste and clear up the myth of throwing something “away”. \nThis event is available for City of San Diego residents ONLY. As a safety precaution\, long pants and close-toed shoes are REQUIRED. A signed waiver will be required at the start of the tour. This tour is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
